A beautiful tribute to all the Iranian freedom fighters by Googoosh!

It is the eleventh day since the election and the people are still going strong. Yesterday Iranian singer Googoosh released a  song of tribute for all the freedom fighters. The song moved me and I wanted everyone to understand the lyrics. I have translated the song with my best efforts and hope that you will help me if you se any mistakes. And to all non-persian speakers. I hope this gives you a better picture of the meaning of the tribute.

Intro talk:
There are critical and future writing days we are putting behind us. We are worried for our motherland, and she is worried and has complains about us: “Have you forgotten my story?” This is a heart to heart by a mother called Iran, to her children has left her and become distant and moving on from a far. Iran has for 30 years had her eye on the door, waiting for her children.

Song:
You have forgotten me
I am the same Iran

When you left, I cried,
In those times of sorrow and sadness
You said: “But we will return.”
That vow was all that was my happiness

You told me this
and I have been sitting here, with open eyes
My precious children, what happened to our meeting promise?
What happened to our meeting promise?

At nights when the memories of the past
fills my being I get reminded of what I was in those days

Empty of the feeling of humiliation
I was proud and sovereign
My precious children, what happened to our meeting promise?

Don't forget me
I know I am in ruins
Do you hear my cries?
I am the same Iran
I am the same Iran

Tired of the kiss of whips
Nothing is left of my body
A cage in the shape of a cat (the map of Iran looks like a cat)
Has covered my corpse

From that day you left
I haven't seen one happy day
My children, you weren't with me
To see what I have suffered
To see what I have suffered

Don't forget me I know I am in ruins
Do you hear my cries?
I am the same Iran
I am the same Iran

I still ask myself
What happened to all that determination?
I hope you haven't gotten used to your refuge in exile

I am still up, waiting
what if you don´t return?
My precious children, you haven't forgotten about me?
My precious children, you haven't forgotten about me?

Don't forget me
I know I am in ruins
Do you hear my cries?
I am the same Iran
I am the same Iran

Don't forget me
I know I am in ruins
Do you hear my cries?
I am the same Iran
I am the same Iran
